Introduction
Our team has been researching waste management at school. Our main research question is are people happy with the waste management at school. We are Joris, Daan, Jack, Jim and Loek. Here you can find a link to our introduction video.

Our ideas
1. We want to make a survey about wastemanagement at our school
2. We are going to interview two people from the Lorentz Lyceum.
3. After we have done those two things we will look at our research question and we will make a conclusion.
Roles for our teamates
Daan survey designer
Daan has been working on designing the survey and making sure that people fill in the survey.
Joris the teamleader and graphs maker
Joris made sure everyone was working on their own things and he gave everyone tasks to do. Next to that he make graphs of the information from Daan´s survey.
Jim logo designer
Jim made the logos in our website.
Jack video maker
Jack posted the introduction video and he did some things on the website. Next to that he also interviewed.
Loek website designer
Loek was responsible for making the website. If he got something, he had to put it into the website. Next to that Loek edited the intoduction video and he interviewed.
Results Survey
If you look at the results of the survey you see quite different results. As you can see mostly the trash is in the bins and the seats are for 70% clean. Most of the people are okay with the mess at school, but a small part isn´t happy with the wast management at school. What we also see in the results is that the school doesn´t seperate waste and they don´t really look at that. Overall the results are positive althought some people aren´t happy with everything.
Interviews
Interview with Ties Bekkers V1C
Do you clean your seats after the break?
If it´s a mess I always clean it, but most of the time it´s not necesarry
Do you put your waste in the bin?
Yes I don´t like mess on the ground so I need to put it in the bin as well.
Do you think school separates waste and why?
I don´t think they do, but they need to.
How do you think the school handles waste?
I think there are enough bins at school, but they need to make sure everyone put their waste in the bin.
What grade would you give the school and why?
A 6.5, because it´s not always clean.
Interview with Vita Bosch TV1M
Do you clean your seats after the break?
No, nobody does it so why would I do it.
Do you put your waste in the bin?
Ofcourse!
Do you think school separates waste and why?
No, because everyone puts all the waste in one garbage bag and they don´t separate that garbage.
What grade would you give the school and why?
A 7, because there are enough bins, but they need to separate the waste better.
If you overall look at what Vita en Ties think you can see some similarities. They both put their waste in the bin and cleaning seats after the break isn´t necessary. They both don´t think the school separates waste and they both think the school needs to do it.
Conclusion
If you look at the results you can see multiple things. Firstly most of the people are happy with the amount of bins and they think the school is quite clean. We asked them if they thought that the school separated and around 80% of the people said that the school didn´t separate the waste. They said that the school needs to do more about that.
Our way of communicating
We had 3 groups chats. One for just our group, there we talked about things we were going to do for eumind. We also had one groups chat with the two whole classes. The last groups chat was wih all the people of waste management and there we talked about waste managment and we had a lot of fun. We also had meetings in teams where we worked on eumind together, because collaboration is easier in a meeting than via the chat. This were the ways we communicated.
Compare results with India
At the school in India they have 2 bins in the classroom. One for wet waste and one for dry wast. In that way they already make sure not all the waste is put in one bin. At our school that´s different we have one bin and we put everything in that one bin. The separating waste is better in India than in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands the recycling at Lorentz is different than in India. At Lorentz some waste is recycled, but not everything. In India all the waste is taken in the morning and than they are going to recycle the waste. If you overall look at this all, you can see that the waste management is better in India than in the Netherlands.
Reflection
Everything started chaotic, because the intro video filming was already a problem. We made promises, but not everyone kept to their promises what made it difficult. After that we haven´t done really much and we waited a long time with interviewing and making the survey. Because we waited this long we needed to do a lot in the last few weeks. We also didn´t really well divided the tasks, that lead to a big difference between the amount of time we personally putted in this project. The things we need to do better the next time is dividing tasks and we need to start earlier. But overall it was a really learnfull experience.
